A model is developed of the evolution of agroforestry in land-use systems, based on the classic review by Ruthenberg, H. (Farming systems in the tropics. Oxford, UK; Clarendon Press, 1980) and earlier work by Boserup, E. (The conditions of agricultural growth. Chicago, USA; Aldine, 1965).
