Extrachromosomal inheritance of fertility and growth traits - a model study with the laboratory mouse. Results of a study of F1 hybrids
The investigation used 3 lines of mice: DU-K (F), selected for fertility over 70 generations; DU-6 (W), selected for growth over 55 generations; FZT:DU (K), an unselected control. Three reciprocal crosses were made (F X K and K X F; F X W and W X F; W X K and K X W). To differentiate uterine and postnatal effects, reciprocal cross embryos were transferred to recipients of the outbred line PROB:01.
