Factors affecting rural occupations and land use: a multivariate approach using correspondence analysis

Factors affecting rural occupations and land use: a multivariate approach using correspondence analysis

Indonesian Journal of Tropical Agriculture 1(4): 1-10

This paper analyses patterns of land use and occupational structure in rural areas of Indonesia, using correspondence analysis, a multi-variate approach. The study was based on data collected in the areas of Kelurahan Lok, Bahu, Samarinda and East Kalimantan. Considering land use patterns as a reflection of human activity, determinants of rural land use patterns were found to be not only spatial, such as variations in land quality and accessibility, but also socio- cultural and socioeconomic.
