Farming systems and agricultural production among small farmers in the Uluguru mountain area, Morogoro region, Tanzania



African Study Monographs 13(3): 171-183



The purpose of the study is to examine the current situation of farming in the Uluguru Mountain Area in Morogoro region, Tanzania in order to suggest improvement methods, bearing in mind the social and economic situation. A farming systems approach is used to explain the problems of small scale farmers in the study region. A survey, involving 60 small farmers selected at random, was conducted by means of questionnaires, and discussions as well as field observations.
