Within natural populations in SE Sweden, egg size at the beginning of the nesting cycle and the number of surviving offspring per nest were found to be positively correlated with female body size in the solitary bee, Colletes cunicularius, and the digger wasp, Bembix rostrata. Large wasps had previously been reported to have a shorter lifespan in some years than smaller wasps.
