The objectives of the study were: (1) to analyse the genesis, physico-chemical and mineralogical properties of Red-Yellow and related soils of the Philippines; (2) to determine the patterns of soil distribution in relation to parent materials, topographic position and climate; (3) to classify the soils according to different classification systems; and (4) to evaluate the productivity potential of the soils in implementing agricultural development programmes in the Philippines.
