Genesis of the brown forest soil type in forest soils of the Ukrainian Carpathians

Genesis of the brown forest soil type in forest soils of the Ukrainian Carpathians

Pochvovedenie ( 4): 19-28

Brown earth formation in the Carpathians is influenced by deep leaching, active aeration (redox potential, 620-750 mV), and active aluminosilicate hydrolysis. Non-silicate iron oxides accumulate (40-60% of total iron), as well as exchangeable aluminium (25-90 mg/100 g soil).
