Genetic analysis for salt tolerance of in vitro regenerant progenies of rice

Genetic analysis for salt tolerance of in vitro regenerant progenies of rice

Rice genetics II: Proceedings of the Second International Rice Genetics Symposium, 14-18 May 1990: 289-294

The inheritance of salt tolerance was studied in the first seed generation (R1) of in vitro selected regenerants of the salt-susceptible varieties IR20 and IR50. The regenerants from control and stressed callus had varying degrees of female (seed) sterility; 12 were almost completely sterile. Among the R1s, one line from IR20 and one from IR50 showed complete salt tolerance in terms of seedling survival in a seedbox screening trial.
