Genetic analysis for the hybrid sterility of intersubspecific crosses in rice

Information on the genetic mechanism of indica-japonica hybrid F1 sterility is derived from data on mean fertility and fertility distribution in single crosses (F1 and F2) and 3-varietal crosses (TVCs) produced using 4 intersubspecific compatible varieties (ICVs; the indica varieties IR38 and Erjiufeng and the japonica varieties Xiushui 117 and T8340). The results indicated the presence of some dispersed (non-allelic) sterility loci.
