Genetic analysis in forage cowpea

Thirty genotypes of forage cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) were grown during kharif 1983 and evaluated for 7 yield components. Genotypic and phenotypic variances were high for plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf weight and stem weight. Phenotypic coefficients of variation were higher than genotypic coefficients. Heritability estimates ranged from 50.2 for branches/plant to 77.9 for stem weight.
