Genetic analysis of a cellulose biodegradation system in the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium thermocellum

Genetic analysis of a cellulose biodegradation system in the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium thermocellum

Bioconversion of plant raw materials biotechnology advancement Finnish Soviet Seminar, Mustio, Finland, 14-16 March 1990: 37-59

Genetic aspects of the anaerobic cellulose-degrading bacterium Clostridium thermocellum were investigated, with particular attention to the development of methods for the transfer of genetic information into C. thermocellum cells, gene cloning and analysis of cellulose-degrading enzymes. C. thermocellum was of particular interest as a thermophilic bacterium and producer of highly active cellulases with considerable biotechnological potential.
