Nine parental lines and their F1 hybrids from a diallel cross were evaluated for grain traits. Heterosis was positive for grain weight, length and width but negative for thickness and husk weight. The former 3 traits were estimated to be controlled by additive genes having high heritabilities (83 to 91%). Grain thickness was estimated to be controlled by overdominant genes and husk weight by a combination of both additive and dominant genes.
