Genetic analysis of tolerance to leaf-bleaching by oxyfluorfen in rice

Five hundred and eight rice cultivars and strains were screened for tolerance to leaf-bleaching by oxyfluorfen. Transverse leaf segments were taken from the middle portion of the fully-expanded 2nd leaf blades of rice seedlings and were floated in Petri dishes on oxyfluorfen solution at concn of 1.78 x 10-3 and 3.65 x 10-3 M. On the 3rd day after treatment, leaf segments of most of the cultivars and strains were bleached, but 15 were not bleached or only slightly bleached.
