Genetic and phenotypic parameters for body weight at different ages in broiler lines

For 1281 broilers from the ZZ sire line, body weight at hatching and at 28, 35 and 42 days of age averaged 43.41, 789.43, 1101.09 and 1538.19 g resp. vs. 44.07, 605.96, 835.13 and 1115.2 g resp. for 1326 birds from the KK dam line, the differences between lines being significant. Males had significantly higher weights at 28, 35 and 42 days of age than in both lines.
