Genetic and phenotypic parameters for production traits of laying hens producing white eggs

Data on 3568 White Leghorn hens of 2 lines, sired by 168 were analysed. Egg weight averaged 56.4 g, rate of lay from 23 to 40 weeks of age 83.3% and egg mass from 35 to 40 weeks 2.12 kg. All traits were significantly affected by incubation, sire within line and hen within sire and line, line affected egg production from 23 to 40 weeks, and there was a line x incubation interaction for egg weight (all P<0.01).
