Genetic approaches to increased nutritional value in oilseed meal

Genetic approaches to increased nutritional value in oilseed meal

Proceedings of the world conference on oilseed technology and utilization: 334-338

Within 70 years, plant breeders have provided significant improvements in oilseed crops (sunflower, soyabean and rapeseed). Cultivars have been developed that are higher in yield, oil content, total proteins, adapted for length of growing season, better adapted for mechanized production and more tolerant or resistant to prevalent diseases and insects. The future should be equally productive as more improvements will continue to be incorporated.
