Genetic basis of egg yolk cholesterol in Mayer strain of White Leghorns

For 1555 White Leghorn hens, the total amount of egg yolk cholesterol per egg at 32, 40 and 72 weeks of age averaged 218.18, 258.0 and 334.54 mg respectively, and the weight of cholesterol per g of yolk 16.16, 17.35 and 17.84 mg. The hsuperscript 2s of the weight of cholesterol per g yolk at the 3 ages were 0.24, 0.24 and 0.30 respectively, and those of total yolk cholesterol 0.26, 0.22 and 0.22.
