Genetic control of cellulose degradation by Pleurotus ostreatus

Genetic control of cellulose degradation by Pleurotus ostreatus

Mushroom Science XIII Volume 1 Proceedings of the 13th International Congress on the Science and Cultivation of Edible Fungi, Dublin, Irish Re ic, 1-6 September 1991: 11-15

Acellulolytic (C-) strains of P. ostreatus were obtained as part of an approach for complete utilization of lignocellulosic wastes. Procedures for mutation with N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) and characterization of C- strains were optimized. A modified 2-layer cellulose medium and a newly developed paper-peptone agar test were used together to identify C- strains.
