Genetic control of diapause and other developmental traits in Japanese strains of the migratory locust, Locusta migratoria L.: univoltine vs. bivoltine

Genetic control of diapause and other developmental traits in Japanese strains of the migratory locust, Locusta migratoria L.: univoltine vs. bivoltine

Japanese Journal of Entomology, 602: 319-328

The genetic control of development and diapause in 2 Japanese strains of Locusta migratoria and their reciprocal hybrids was compared in the laboratory. The development of nymphs was shorter in a univoltine strain from Hokkaido (43 degrees N) than a bivoltine strain from Ibaraki, Honshu (36 degrees N).
