Genetic control of fibre content in the stem of flax

By means of diallel analysis using 8 parental varieties, the inheritance of fibre content was studied over 2 years in the north east of the Poles'e (Pripyat' Marshes) area of the Ukraine. The character was conditioned by additive and dominance gene effects, with dominance effects predominant. Pskovskii 359 and Tomskii 10 had the highest number of dominant genes and Polesskii 3 the highest number of recessive genes for the trait.
