Genetic correlation between ripening time and weight of fruits in Japanese pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai)

Genetic correlation between ripening time and weight of fruits in Japanese pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai)

Japanese Journal of Breeding 43(3): 439-447

A seedling population consisting of sixteen families and their parental cultivars were studied. High correlations were observed between ripening time and fruit weight among families. Where family average ripening time was early, average fruit weight was low, and vice versa. High correlations were also observed between mid-parent ripening time and the family mean of fruit weight.
