Genetic determinism of resistance to the green aphid (Myzus persicae) in the peach. Further results

The mode of inheritance of resistance to M. persicae was determined by studying the progeny of a cross between the resistant parent S2678:47 (derived from a weeping flower peach) and the susceptible parent S1161:12 (derived from Redhaven). Resistance was controlled by a single dominant gene (Rm1/rm1). No link was found between the locus determining aphid resistance and the loci determining weeping shape (Pl/pl), corky triangle (T/t), flower shape (Sh/sh) and fruit flesh colour (Y/y).
