Genetic diversity among plantagos. XXV. Isolation of an autotriploid from a cross between disomic and trisomic plants of Plantago lanceolata L

Genetic diversity among plantagos. XXV. Isolation of an autotriploid from a cross between disomic and trisomic plants of Plantago lanceolata L

Nucleus Calcutta 35(2/3): 97-100

Karyotype analysis of the autotriploid (derived from a cross between disomic 2n = 12 and trisomic 2n = 12 + 1 plants) revealed 12 submetacentric and 6 subtelocentric chromosomes. During PMC meiosis the chromosomes paired in 6 trivalents. Chromosome lagging was frequent and delayed disjunction of some associations occurred during anaphase I and II. Pollen viability was 51% and the plant was partially female fertile.
