Genetic diversity of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) varietal populations assessed by cluster analysis

Genetic diversity of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) varietal populations assessed by cluster analysis

Proceedings of the 13th International Sunflower Conference Volume 2, Pisa, Italy, 7-11 September 1992: 1135-1140

A total of 78 populations were evaluated during 1991 for 4 quantitative traits. Hierarchical cluster analysis (using Euclidean distance as a metric distance) grouped the populations into 5 clusters. For 1000-seed weight, 13 populations in clusters 3 and 4 gave the highest mean values of 85 and 103 g, respectively, and were recommended for use in breeding programmes.
