Genetic engineering of Chinese potato cultivars by introducing antibacterial polypeptide gene

Genetic engineering of Chinese potato cultivars by introducing antibacterial polypeptide gene

Biotechnology in agriculture Proceedings of the First Asia Pacific Conference on Agricultural Biotechnology, Beijing, China, 20-24 August 1992: 208-212

Antibacterial polypeptide Cecropin B and Shiva genes were introduced into leaf segments and tuber discs of 6 Chinese potato cultivars by different Ti and Ri Agrobacterium transformation systems. A total of 299 transgenic plants were regenerated. The optimum co-cultivation period was around 4 days. Highest transformation frequency was obtained with cultivar Mira and differences in the efficiency of distinct strains of Agrobacterium were found.
