Genetical population structure of the small ermine moth Yponomeuta padellus

The population structure and levels of gene flow between populations of the oligophagous moth Yponomeuta padellus in the Netherlands were inferred from allozyme data to test the hypothesis of sympatric speciation by host race formation. The data presented show that the intra-host amount of gene flow between Crataegus-feeding populations is significantly higher than the inter-host Crataegus-Prunus spinosa and Crataegus-Sorbus aucuparia gene flow levels.
