Abstract
Analysis of dwarfism in 2 gamma radiation-induced mutants (d1 and d2) of hexaploid triticale DTS330 and their progeny revealed that this trait is governed by a single recessive gene. Both d1 and d2 were allelic to each other and d1 was dominant over d2. The 2 mutants and their F1 showed no response to exogenous GA3 , whereas DTS330, d1 x DTS330 and d2 x DTS330 were responsive. The endogenous levels of gibberellins (GA) were higher in the dwarf mutants than in DTS330, suggesting that their dwarfism might be due to a partial block in the GA utilizing mechanism rather than a block in GA biosynthesis.
