One glucantime sensitive strain (Leishmania braziliensis MHOM/BR/75/M2903), 3 naturally glucantime-resistant strains (L. braziliensis MHOM/BR/??/LTB259, L. braziliensis ISQN/BR/85/M9947 and L. amazonensis IFLA/BR/86/M10995) and one glucantime resistant line developed by in vitro drug exposure (line R2-1 derived from L. guyanensis IUMB/BR/85/M9945) were all found to be sensitive to pentostam (sodium stibogluconate) in vitro.
