Growth regulation of weanling pigs as affected by zinc depletion and repletion with a zinc amino acid chelate

Growth regulation of weanling pigs as affected by zinc depletion and repletion with a zinc amino acid chelate

Animal Science Research Report, Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station ( 10): 32-34

Total growth factor activity, brain zinc content and growth rate of Zn deficient weaned pigs, given equal amounts of a semipurified diet with Zn 17 mg/kg for 24 days or that diet with Zn 45 mg/kg as zinc sulphate or zinc amino acid chelate (ZA (control)) was studied after one group was sacrificed, 1 group was repleted for 12 days with the low-Zn diet plus Zn 45 mg/kg as before. Groups of pigs were slaughtered before repletion, 6 and 12 days after repletion.
