Effects of various factors including final body weight, anabolic implants and frame size on feedlot performance and carcass value were studied in Holstein and beef breed steers. Results indicated that daily gain and taste panel characteristics were similar for Holstein and beef breed steers over the range of slaughter endpoints, but Holsteins averaged 13% less gain per unit of feed and 3% less boneless cuts at similar stages of growth.
