Heterosis and combining ability of CIMMYT's tropical late white maize germplasm

Heterosis and combining ability of CIMMYT's tropical late white maize germplasm

Maydica 37(2): 217-223

ISSN/ISBN: 0025-6153

Seven tropically adapted, late maturity maize gene pools and populations (Populations 21, 22, 25, 29, 32 and 43, and Pool 24) developed and improved at CIMMYT were crossed in a 7 X 7 diallel making system. The parents and 21 crosses were evaluated for grain yield, days to silk and plant height at 5 locations in Mexico, and one each in Colombia and Thailand. The combined analysis of variance for all 3 traits showed no significant genotype x environment interaction.
