Increment and crown analysis in silver fir (Abies alba) stands in montane areas of Piedmont (Italy)

Increment and crown analysis in silver fir (Abies alba) stands in montane areas of Piedmont (Italy)

Dendrochronologia ( 9): 143-163

Analysis of 160 dendrochronological core samples from permanent plots in 8 silver fir (Abies alba) stands in NW Italy - about 85-153 yr old, even-aged, pure or mixed (with other conifers or broadleaves) stands, altitude 1090-1710 m, various aspects - indicated no close relation between crown damage (assessed, in 1989, as part of a monitoring of forest decline) and radial growth trends.
