Indigenous carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) cultivars in Catalonia

Investigacion Agraria, Produccion y Proteccion Vegetales 5(2): 223-238

A study of the principal Catalan carob ecotypes conducted over 5 years in Tarragona and Barcelona selected 65 trees from which 14 female cultivars were identified. The cultivars were classified according to commercial and agricultural interest into (a) main cultivars (Rojal and Banya de Cabra), (b) secondary cultivars (Negra, Costella de Ruc and Banya de Marra) and (c) cultivars of little interest.
