Influence of glucosinolate and iodine intake on thyroid hormone, vitamin A and trace element status of pigs fed on rapeseed oilmeal

Conventional rapeseed oilmeal (glucosinolates 136 mmol/kg DM) and a new cultivar containing about 66% less glucosinolate were moistened with copper sulfate solution and dried at 60 degrees C. Treatment reduced glucosinolate to about 15% of original values. Pigs were given diets containing 14% soyabean oilmeal or 16% rapeseed oilmeal (untreated or Cu-treated); subgroups received iodine 0.0625, 0.125 or 0.25 mg/kg feed; vitamin A supplement was 2000 IU/kg feed.
