Influence of thiourea on flower bud burst in durian, Durio zibethinus Murr

Influence of thiourea on flower bud burst in durian, Durio zibethinus Murr

Acta Horticulturae 321: 348-355

ISSN/ISBN: 0567-7572

In an effort to overcome dormancy imposed on very young flower buds by rainfall, branches of trees at 3 sites were pretreated with 1000 p.p.m. ethephon then sprayed with 0, 500, 1000 or 1500 p.p.m. thiourea when the first signs of flower bud development were observed. A positive correlation was found between thiourea concentrations and flower density expressed as the number of inflorescences/m of branch.
