Intra-increment wood properties variation in compression wood rings of Cedrus deodara (Roxb.) Loud
Variation in tracheid length and wood density was measured in tangential strips cut from 10 compression wood rings and from adjacent rings selected randomly from inclined trees with the objective of locating the sampling stratum which is least influenced by compression wood. Annual rings with compression wood showed a localized and gradual decrease in tracheid length and a localized and steep increase in wood density in the compression wood zone.
