, : Intraamniotic infection with Candida albicans associated with a retained intrauterine device. A case report. Journal of Reproductive Medicine 37(11): 950-952

A case is reported in a 22-yr-old pregnant woman who presented with slight vaginal bleeding, fever and preterm uterine contractions at 23 wk of gestation. The patient had become pregnant while using an intrauterine device (IUD) and had been treated with antibiotics for a urinary tract infection at 6 wk of gestation. Following amniocentesis rupture of the membranes occurred and a stillborn foetus was delivered, preceded by expulsion of the IUD.
