Intraspecific nuclear DNA variation in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) and pea (Pisum sativum)

, : Intraspecific nuclear DNA variation in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) and pea (Pisum sativum). Indian Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding 51(3): 357-362

Nuclear DNA content was estimated from seeds of 13 genotypes each of pigeonpea and pea using Fuelgen cytophotometry. Data were recorded for twenty-five 2C and 4C nuclei, in each genotype, and significant differences were found among genotypes from the same species. DNA density (DNA content/nuclear area) increased with increasing DNA content. The 4C nuclei exhibited higher density than 2C nuclei in each case.
