Introducing the new strawberry cultivars Hera (R), Athena (R), Marmolada (R)

, : Introducing the new strawberry cultivars Hera (R), Athena (R), Marmolada (R). Acta Horticulturae ( 345): 37-39

Following selection for fruit shape, colour, flavour and shelf life, 3 cultivars were released in 1989. Hera is medium sized with an upright habit and has regular, conical berries which are large (21-24 g) and bright red. Flesh is red and has a good flavour. Fruits remain firm and attractive for several days without refrigeration and are tolerant of handling and transport. Hera ripens 4 days before Pajaro. Athena is of medium size and upright habit.
