Sugarcane CoC 671 propagules containing single intact buds were coated with red earth slurry, agar gel slurry or red earth + agar gel, with and without presoaking in nutrients. Germination percentage was 72% in untreated buds, 61-65% in coated buds, and 71-74% in buds soaked in nutrients before coating. Germination rate was significantly increased by pretreatment with nutrients (mixed 1% solutions of KH2PO4 and KCl).
