Investigations on the incidence and persistence of maternal antibodies against turkey rhinotracheitis in turkey poults

Investigations on the incidence and persistence of maternal antibodies against turkey rhinotracheitis in turkey poults

Archiv fur Geflugelkunde 57(6): 275-280

Multiple sequential blood samples were taken from 30 poults between 1 and 20 days of age and screened for TRT-antibodies using ELISA. Positive antibody-titres of different values were found in all 30 tested sera. The titres decreased between the 6 and 13 days depending on the titre of the first day. In a 2nd trial an investigation was carried out to determine if maternal TRT-antibodies are specific against different virus isolates.
