Mali: 'auto-evaluation': an NGO experience with community-based evaluation

Mali: 'auto-evaluation': an NGO experience with community-based evaluation

Rural Extension Bulletin ( 1): 27-33

This paper shares the experiences of an international NGO in developing with community groups a process known as auto-evaluation: which attempts to establish project objectives consistent with both community and agency criteria, and to evaluate their achievements against community-determined indicators. It stresses that it is not a blueprint and highlights the central problem that the relationship between local groups and an extension agency with resources will always be artifical and biased.
