Managing people in project organizations

Managing projects in developing countries: 179-200

Recently it has been realized that the people staffing development projects and staff in general are not merely subordinates, but also the essential resource available to managers for transforming ideas, inspiration, materials, capital and technical competence into products or services. This chapter reviews ideas and concepts with regard to the management of people within organizations. It starts by considering how people are expected to behave, looking at two theories of staff behaviour.
