At intervals throughout 1987, in Kauna, Lithuania, 29 Petri dishes were exposed to the air inside buildings and 29 to the surrounding atmosphere. In total, 735 colonies of micromycetes were obtained, 439 from the atmosphere, and 296 from the air of buildings. A total of 158 species representing 80 genera were found. The predominant genera within buildings were Penicillium, Cladosporium, Aspergillus and Acremonium, while outdoors yielded predominantly Cladosporium, Penicillium and Alternaria.
