Microsporidiosis in mass rearings of predatory mites: development of a detection method

Three microsporidian species have been found in mass rearings of Amblyseius cucumeris and A. barkeri. Two hybrid cell lines producing monoclonal antibodies were developed against spores of one species (Pleistophoridae). These antibodies showed weak cross-reactivity with spores of Nosema bombi, but there was no reaction with spores of N. bombycis and Vairimorpha necatrix.
