Migration as a risk factor for chronic malnutrition in preschool children in the sugar cane region of Jalisco

Migration as a risk factor for chronic malnutrition in preschool children in the sugar cane region of Jalisco

Salud Publica de Mexico 35(5): 518-527

From February to March 1988 a study was made of 511 children 12 to 71 months old at child care centres in Jalisco, a sugar cane growing region of Mexico. The children were members of 317 families of migrating workers. Anthropometric measurements indicated that 107 children were adequately fed but that 362 had chronic malnutrition.
