Milk: quotas for nearly ten years now

Chambres d' Agriculture ( 814, Supplement): 12pp.
Milk: quotas for nearly ten years now
Milk production in France and the EC has been regulated since 1984 by quotas following the CAP reform in 1982. As a result, the volume of milk produced since 1984 has declined, and while the prices paid to milk producers have fallen, by 19% to 1992, the price of milk in real terms has risen slightly, by some 0.4%. The same period saw the disappearance of 159 000 dairy farms in the EC.
