Multiple objective fractional programming and livestock ration formulation: a case study for dairy cow diets in Spain

This paper illustrates the application of multiple objective fractional programming to livestock ration formulation in a real-life situation concerning the optimization of dairy cow diet on a farm located in the Guadalquivir Valley in Andalusia, Spain. For the situation being modelled, the rigid way in which constraints are treated in a conventional least-cost linear programming frame model leads to difficulties in obtaining a feasible diet.
