Natural regeneration in tropical rain forest in French Guiana: spatial distribution of Qualea rosea, Eperua falcata and Symphonia globulifera

Inventory data (collected 1986-88) were used to examine the spatial distribution of seedlings of three tropical tree species in experimental plots at Paracou. Seedlings were classified as small (height 5-150 cm) or large (height >150 cm, stem diameter <10 cm). Dispersal indices showed a clustered distribution pattern of tight aggregates, loose aggregates and patches.
