This paper, presented at the XIX Conference of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, Malaga, 1985, brings forward the following hypotheses: it may be that the best interests of Multinational Food and Feed Corporations (MNFFCs) are coming to rest more and more upon their ability to act as oligopolies seeking consenting partners rather than on their stubbornness to keep on behaving as fiercely competing ones, at least for the remainder of the decade.
